"Easy To Click Selfies With Prime Minister": Vivek Oberoi Upset On Bollywood Not Supporting PM Narendra Modi Biopic
Vivek Oberoi has lashed out at Bollywood celebs for not supporting his upcoming film, PM Narendra Modi, a biopic on Prime Minister. In his recent interview with Zoom TV, the actor said that it’s easy to take selfies with the PM. The actor hit back at all those who did not come forward to lend their support for the film, when it was embroiled in controversies. The film was being accused of being a BJP propaganda, before the Lok Sabha Elections.

Oberoi starrer PM Modi biopic was supposed to release on April 5, but it got stuck with the Censor Board. The film received U certificate last night and will now hit theatres on April 11.

Speaking to Zoom about Bollywood not being there for his film, a disappointed Vivek said, “I feel we are not a united industry. I feel when a Padmaavat gets stuck and a legend like Sanjay Bhansali is mistreated and misbehaved with, we should all unite together. I feel if My Name Is Khan gets stuck, we should come together to make sure it doesn't get stuck. It's easy to post selfies with Prime Minister and stuff like that. As an industry, we need to stand together.”

He further added, “Around 600 artistes right now are saying that BJP shouldn't come back, let's all get together. I respect that, they have all rights to do that. But I also expect from these people, people like Anurag Kashyap, who, during the Udta Punjab's release, which was during the Punjab elections, was fighting for his right to release it and got it released. And I am happy, that is the sign of democracy. But, all these people who are otherwise so vocal on everything, nobody came out in support of our film. This is happening to our film and they trying to ban our film. Not one word, not one tweet. That, to me, is not fair. That is not being honest to their own principle. That is a double standard.”

Yesterday, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea seeking a stay on release of the film, giving EC the authority to take the final decision.
